I am an educator with a passion for social justice, educational equity, my community, and travel.
I am a secondary social studies educator, teaching AP Government, AP Psychology, Sociology, Latin American Studies, US History, World History, Government, Leadership and Yearbook over the past sixteen years. I explored school administration and leadership, serving as Assistant Principal of Instruction before deciding to return to my first love, teaching. I earned my doctorate from the University of Southern California, where I also teach online and in-person graduate-level education courses as an Adjunct Professor of Education.
In January of 2020, I took a semester-long leave of absence to embark on a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching fellowship that was sadly cut short after the outbreak of COVID-19. I spent the spring and summer of 2020 helping teachers navigate distance learning, and planning my next professional move. This fall I'll begin a new journey as a middle school educator, teaching US History remotely to eighth graders in Boyle Heights.
